BBQ Beatdown 6 – Bernueng (MMA Phuket) vs. Singyok (Legacy) MMA in Thailand with Pride/UFC rules
The main event of the BBQ Beatdown 6 and Full Moon Party @ Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp (Nevertap Edition) featured two Muay Thai Champion fighters currently ranked in the top 15 Muay Thai fighters in the Country of Thailand in the first ever Thai champion vs Thai Champion in Full MMA rules fight.
Singyok Legacy a Lumpinee stadium champion and now training training under Ole Laursen of the Legacy Gym in Ubon ratchathani Thailand has competed in MMA Internationally with fights in China (Art of war) and Russia.
Bernueng, Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp fighter is a WMC world Muay Thai champion who made his debut MMA fight earlier this year in Russia losing a close Decision to a Samo Champion in Russia after having only 1 hour taining in ground fighting / BJJ under head coach Ray Elbe.
Agreeing to a combo of Pride/UFC rules this fight lived up to the hype. Bernueng won the first round on the judges card thanks to a late “Rampage Jackson” style body slam, followed by gaining the mount position on Singyok. The 2nd round had several exchanges on the feet, with Bernueng securing a couple more takedowns and attempting a solid armbar submission, only to be reversed by Singjok. In the third and final round Singjok tried to rally from behind gaining the mount position over Bernueng and attempting to finish the fight. In the end it was too little too late. Judges Jack Magee, Chad Hamzeh, and Mike Swick all scored the bout 2 rounds to 1, allowing ref Alex Berezovik to raise Bernueng TMT’s hand as the winner.
Look for a rematch of these two warriors in Ubon Ratchathani later this year as MMA in thailand starts to take hold.
