MagicalRay Elbe (Tiger Muay Thai and MMA) promoted to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt
Professional MMA fighter “Magical” Ray Elbe started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2001 while attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona. In 2004 he was promoted to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Steve Hochuli. Upon graduating University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, Elbe relocated to Irvine California being awarded his fourth stripe on his BJJ Blue Belt in 2006 by Juliano Prado. In 2007, after 6 years of training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Grappling Juliano promoted him to the rank of Purple belt. Following a Bronze medal performance in the Gi at the Abu Dhabi International Cup held at the ADCC Combat Club, and winning a gold medal during the Pan Asian Games in the advance Division held in Manila, Philippines- Ray was given the Brown Belt ranking in 2009. 14 months after his promotion to Brown Belt, Ray Elbe was recognized by 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor Juliano Prado as his 18th BJJ Black Belt. Elbe has gone from Blue, Purple, Brown, and eventually Black under the grading of Professor Prado. Also on hand for the Ray’s Black Belt promotion were fellow BJJ Black Belts Yoshi Hasegawa and Marcelo Giudici.
